Mind Body and Life?


 Harvard Business Review published a
questionnaire from the book 
"The Power of Full Engagement" by Tony Schwartz.

Below is an adapted version to
help you test your personal
Mind, Body and Life Fitness.

Answer these questions and count the number of statements that might easily apply to you.

Mind.

Q1. I get irritable or anxious when facing tough decisions.

Q2. People close to me make annoying remarks when they sense that I am irritable or anxious.

Q3. I actively avoid speaking in public and this may be limiting my career and social opportunities.

Q4. I avoid confronting people about the quality of their work either at home or in the workplace.

Q5. I quietly resent not having voiced my opinion properly during decision making at home or at work. 

Q6. I am easily distracted, especially by e-mail.

Q7. Certain "things", even really minor "things", just make my blood boil and ruin the rest of my day.

Q8. I can see how to resolve the problems affecting my friends or family but go blank when addressing my own.

Q9. On balance I tend to visualize why things won't work out right rather than why they will.

Body.

Q1. I don't sleep well and wake feeling tired.

Q2. I frequently skip breakfast or snack in the morning.

Q3. I find myself putting off the chance to workout.

Q4. I often eat lunch at my desk ( if I eat at all ).

Q5. I get back or neck pain after sitting at my desk or driving my car for long periods.

Q6. I notice that my breathing becomes shallow when I am working under pressure.

Q7. I tend to continously repeat the same workout and wonder if I am really seeing the results I want.

Q8. I have good intentions but find it hard to replace bad habits with good habits especially around food and drink.

Q9. There are aspects of my body I wish I could change.

Life.

Q1. I take work home and answer email on holiday.

Q2. I can't remember the last time I did something which I would describe as "exhilarating."

Q3. I don't spend enough quality time with loved ones. 

Q4. I don't spend enough time enjoying what I am best at.

Q5. There are significant gaps between what I say I important to me and how I allocate my time and energy.

Q6. My decisions are affected by outside influences rather than my own sense of purpose. 

Q7. I don't often express my appreciation to others.

Q8. I don't make any time out for strategy, reflection or creative thinking in work and home life.

Q9. I have a vague sense that there could be more to life than I am currently experiencing.
